Configure the Author Portal URL in S1M

Configure ScholarOne so that it can automatically retrieve the URL of the submission page for a manuscript submitted through Author Portal. Emails sent from ScholarOne to the author can then include this URL, pointing the author to their submission page in Author Portal.

Before you begin

You must have access to the S1M Configuration Center to perform this task.

Procedure

  1. In S1M, click Support > Configuration Center.
  2. Click Configure This Site.
  3. Click step 8, Task Configuration.
  4. In the Submitted Manuscript Workflow table, locate the Admin Checklist / Admin row.
  5. Under the Properties column for that row, click edit addl fields.
    The table will be replaced by other options.
  6. From the new options that are displayed, click Advanced View.
    The Advanced View options will be displayed
  7. In the Details Group Name table, under Add a detail group from scratch, enter the appropriate Order in which the submission URL information should be displayed relative to other detail groups.
  8. In the Name field, enter Revision URL.
  9. In the Submission Group: field, select all submission groups.
    User Ctrl + click to select multiple submission groups.
  10. Click Go.
    The Revision URL row is added to the first table in the Advanced View.
  11. In the first table, click Add Questions for the Revision URL row.
    A new window will open, in which you can create a new question.
  12. In the new window, fill in the Add Question & Answers table as follows:
    1. Set Order to 0
    2. Set the Question Name to Author Portal URL.
      Note: The question name determines the corresponding ScholarOne email tag, so this can be customized per tenant.
    3. Set Question Text to Author Portal URL:
    4. Set Answer Type to Text
    5. Check the include in advanced manuscript search box.
    6. Check the create an e-mail tag for this question box.
    7. Click the Use Answer Text in e-mail tag output radio button.
  13. In the Answers table, do the following:
    1. Click the radio button under the Default column in the first row.
    2. Set Answer Name to text
    3. Set External Id to REX-AF-RURL-01x
    4. Check the Active box
  14. Click Save.
  15. Click Close Window to close the current window.
  16. Back on the Advanced View page, click Configure Layout for the Revision URL row.
    A new window will open.
  17. In the new window, do the following:
    1. Set Number Rows to 2
    2. Set Number Columns to 1
    3. Click Create Table.
      A table will appear above Create table to control the layout of the custom field.
  18. In the Table boder: field, click on.
  19. In the new table, click the Cell Properties icon for Cell 1.
    A Cell Properties panel will be displayed to the right of the new table. If you cannot see the Cell Properties panel, try maximizing the window.
  20. In the Cell Properties panel, configure Cell 1 as follows:
  21. Click the Cell Properties icon for Cell 2 and leave the default settings in place.
  22. Click X to close the Cell Properties panel.
  23. Click Preview as new UI to confirm that the table has been configured successfully.
  24. Cick the icon to save the cell properties.
  25. Close the layout configuration window.
  26. From Support > Configuration Center, click Flush Cache.

Results

The layout will appear in each submission's Manuscript Information tab, following the author-provided metadata.
