About Email Templates

Once handling of the author experience has been migrated from ScholarOne to Author Portal Submission, editors must take steps to ensure that their templated emails to authors from ScholarOne do not mistakenly redirect users to the incorrect submission system.

The emails described in this section are those that ScholarOne sends to authors, and are not to be confused with the system event notifications that ScholarOne sends to Author Portal.

ScholarOne templates have often been built over time and differ for each journal, so a tailored approach must be taken for each journal as it moves onto Author Portal.

There are three basic categories of emails, which must be updated at the time of the submission platform migration:
  • Revision Decision Templates
  • Co-Author Account Creation Templates
  • Remote Integration Templates
Important: Updating the ScholarOne email templates should be the last step you perform during ScholarOne reconfiguration when migrating to Author Portal. Links in the updated templates will point authors to your Author Portal platform as opposed to ScholarOne, so it is important that your Author Portal platform is ready for authors to use it before you update the email templates.
