About Custom Questions
Standard View and Advanced View custom questions should be reconfigured in S1M.
- Standard View Custom Questions: These custom questions cannot be configured with
External IDs. These questions should be made unrequired, reported on to preserve
historical data, and then removed as needed.Note: If Standard View custom questions are added to the ScholarOne submission group, then they do not have to be made unrequired.
- Advanced View Custom Questions: For successful information exchange between S1M and Atypon Author Portal, the Detail Group names and the External IDs associated with the answers must match exactly.
Every custom question is configured in Author Portal as summarizable or not
summarizable:
- Summarizable custom questions can be added in the submission summary, according to certain rules set in Author Portal regarding the order they appear so that users can mix and match questions for every journal. The submission portal concatenates all questions to appear in the Submission Summary, such as the full text of each question and the responses that the author provided together with the attached files.
- Not summarizable custom questions will have an explicit field in S1M with a unique External ID that Author Portal needs to use.
Note: It is recommended to unrequire questions in S1M to avoid breaking anything in
S1M in case an author doesn't submit a required question. Atypon's submission portal
will enforce whether a question is unrequired or not according to the rules that are
set up in the submission portal.
