Research Topics (Structured Keywords)

With this question, a journal can ask authors to select one or more Research Topics from a structured, hierarchical list that matches an identical list managed in ScholarOne.

Note: This question is not to be confused with the similarly titled Research Topics (Controlled Keywords) question, or the two Keywords questions.

With this question, submitters can choose from a structured, hierarchical list of Research Topics configured in ScholarOne, which Author Portal can automatically extract from ScholarOne based on the corresponding ScholarOne attribute type name. See the related information for configuration instructions.

Once the question is configured and the journal configuration is published, a two-pane interface is displayed to submitters:

In the left pane, under Select research topics, submitters can select the research topics that apply to their submission. When the submitter has selected required minimum number of topics, the progress bar in the right pane will change color to green, indicating that this question has been adequately answered:

If the submitter selects the maximum allowed number of research topics, the message Maximum number of keywords reached is displayed in the left pane, and all options in that pane are grayed out, to prevent the submitter from accidentally exceeding the maximum allowed number of research topics.
