Edit a Journal
You can edit a draft configuration version of a journal.
Additional Information (Custom Questions)
Add or delete the existing Additional Information questions that are available for your journals. Each Author Portal additional information question has a corresponding custom question in ScholarOne.

Is this submission for a special issue? (managed dropdown list)
The submitter can indicate if their submission is intended for a special issue, and if so, can select from a list of available special issues, which can be configured in the Admin Tool. The No… option is selected by default.

        Animal Subjects
        The submitter should state whether their research describes experiments involving animals.
        Are the authors from industry or academia?
        The submitter can specify whether the authors are members of industry, academia, or both.
        Are you a member of [Society name]?
        The submitter is asked whether they are member of a society.
        Are you submitting a randomized controlled trial?
        The submitter should state whether they submit a randomized controlled trial.
        Are you submitting a Systematic Review?
        The submitter is asked to provide further details about the kind of review article they submit, more specifically, if they are submitting a systematic review.
        Configurable multiple choice question
        A configurable multiple choice question.
        Cover letter / Comments
        The submitter can attach a cover letter or provide comments to the editor by uploading one document, or by using the free-text editor.
        Do you have code (software) associated with your manuscript?
        Do you have data associated with your manuscript?
        Early Career Researcher Services
        The submitter is asked whether they are a graduate student seeking additional advice on their submission.
        Funders
        The Submitter can provide zero or more funders using a Crossref Funder Registry (FundRef) DB type-ahead lookup.
        Has a version of this manuscript previously been made available elsewhere online, as a preprint or other format?
        The submitter needs to state wjether their resarch has been made available elsewhere as a preprint, or online.
        How did you find out about this journal?
        Journals can ask the submitter how they found out about the journal and authors may respond by selecting an option from the drop-down list, and provide more detail if they choose Other.
        Has this manuscript been submitted previously to this journal?
        The submitter can indicate if their manuscript has been submitted to this journal previously. If so, they are required to provide the previous submission’s Manuscript ID. There are no configuration options for this question. The default state has no options selected and the submitter must select an option.
        Informed Consent
        The submitter is asked whether their research involved human subjects.
        Is this research supported by funding?
        The submitter can specify whether the research has been funded and, if applicable, the grant numbers of the grants received.
        Is this submission a Stage 1 or Stage 2 Registered Report?
        The submitter is asked to select whether the submission is a Stage 1 or Stage 2 registered report.
        Is this submission for a special issue? (configurable list)
        Similar to the author_portal/c_auth_publication-process-questions-managed-list.html question, with the difference that admins can specify which issues are currently active.
        Is this submission for a special issue? (managed dropdown list)
        The submitter can indicate if their submission is intended for a special issue, and if so, can select from a list of available special issues, which can be configured in the Admin Tool. The No… option is selected by default.
        Is your data available? (DAS)
        The new Data Availability Statement (DAS) Generator brings all of the relevant information into Author Portal and helps authors generate an appropriate DAS by answering a few simple questions.
        Keywords (Controlled List)
        The submitter is asked to provide 3-10 research topics that match the focus of their manuscript.
        Keywords (Free Text)
        Journals can collect author-supplied, free-text keywords by including this question.
        Manuscript Sub-Types
        Use this question to allow submitters to select their submission's manuscript sub-type.
        Preferred Editors
        Allows submitters to select their preferred editor(s) for their manuscript.
        Question Title (Configurable Free Text Question)
        A configurable text question.
        Research Topics (Controlled Keywords)
        With this question, a journal can ask authors to select one or more Research Topics from a large, controlled list that matches an identical list managed in ScholarOne.
        Research Topics (Structured Keywords)
        With this question, a journal can ask authors to select one or more Research Topics from a structured, hierarchical list that matches an identical list managed in ScholarOne.
        Select a Manuscript Type
        A configurable dropdown that allows submitters to select the article type for regular issues.
        Social media mention preferences
        Journals may promote published articles on social media.
        Special Issue (Free Text)
        The submitter can indicate if their submission is intended for a special issue, and if so, provide a free-text description of the special issue.
        Stage 1 Registered Protocol URL
        The submitter is asked to include the registered protocol URL.
        Suggested and opposed reviewers
        Journals may configure suggested / opposed reviewers to be optional or required, and enforce the number of required suggestions. Suggested and Opposed is one question that includes both suggested, and opposed, peer reviewer collection.
        Transparent Peer Review
        The submitter can choose whether to participate in transparent peer review, where, should the manuscript be accepted, the decision letter and other documents relating to the peer review process for the manuscript will be made publicly available.

        Authors are asked whether they want their research to be made publicly available.

      - Author Details
        Specify the author information to collect during the Author Details submission step, such as author honorific titles and contributor CRediT details during submission and/or revision.

        Specify which files authors can submit to the publication.
      - Screening
        Edit the screening service for a journal..
      - Article Types
        Add, remove, or edit article types from a journal.
      - Workflow Model
        Specify in which workflows the journal should participate.
      - Test a Sample Submission
        Test that the journal configuration in Author Portal matches that in ScholarOne Manuscripts (S1M).

Is this submission for a special issue? (managed dropdown list)

The submitter can indicate if their submission is intended for a special issue, and if so, can select from a list of available special issues, which can be configured in the Admin Tool. The No… option is selected by default.

If the submitter selects Yes…, a dropdown appears. If Yes… is selected, an option must be selected or an error will be displayed when the submitter tries to Confirm the step.

You can add new items to the dropdown options by clicking Add, remove items from the list by clicking X, and reorder the items in the list through the drag and drop functionality.
