Make sure you have previously performed the required configuration and/or data export in ScholarOne.

About this task

There are two Research Topics additional information questions in Author Portal:
The configuration steps required are different for each of the above questions.
Note: The Research Topics additional information questions are not to be confused with the Keywords additional information questions. The latter do not require configuration in ScholarOne.

Procedure

  1. In Author Portal, navigate to the required journal configuration.
  2. In the Additional Information tab, click Configure for the required Research Topics question.
Note: Both questions display as Research Topics in Author Portal.
  3. To configure the Research Topics (Controlled Keywords) question, do the following:
    1. In the Upload controlled list section, drag and drop or click to upload the CSV file your previously downloaded from S1M.
    2. Make sure that the values in the following fields are correct for the number of keywords / rows in the CSV file:
      • Instruction text.
      • Under Keyword count, the Minimum and Maximum fields.

Do not enter a value greater than 10 in the Maximum field.

Furthermore, if the CSV file contains, for example, 5 keywords, do not set the Minimum or Maximum values to a number greater than 5, as this will throw the following error(s) when publishing the journal configuration from the Publish Changes tab:
      • Minimum keywords of research topics question should be less then whole list of topics
      • Maximum keywords of research topics question should be less then whole list of topics
  4. To configure the Research Topics (Structured Keywords) question, do the following:
    1. Optionally edit the text in the Title and Description/instruction fields.
    2. Under Keyword count, optionally edit the Minimum and Maximum values.
      Neither value should exceed 10.
    3. Select the required S1M Attribute Type Name.
The options in this dropdown correspond to the names of attribute types (collections of keywords/research topics) in the journal's ScholarOne site.
A List preview will be displayed underneath, populated with the keywords/research topics extracted from ScholarOne.
  5. Click Save.
