Additional Information (Custom Questions)

Add or delete the existing Additional Information questions that are available for your journals. Each Author Portal additional information question has a corresponding custom question in ScholarOne.

Before you begin

To add or remove questions that are not included in the Submission Summary, you must have Tenant Super User permissions or higher.

About this task

You cannot create new additional information questions from this tab. The questions available have been created by Author Portal engineering. To request that new questions be created, contact your account manager.

Procedure

  1. Click Additional Information on the Edit journal screen.
  2. To add a question from the additional information question pool to the journal, click Add.
    1. In the Add question to journal window, click Use question under a question to add it.
Note: Not all available questions can be added to a journal configuration. Some questions are mutually exclusive. For example, you cannot add the Is this research supported by funding? question to a journal configuration that is already using the deprecated Funders question. If one has already been added and you attempt to add the other, the following error message will display: Error occurred "Funders With Grants" question is not allowed to be used with "Funders" question. Click Got it! to close the message window.
  3. To remove a question that is already added to the journal, click Remove to the right of the question.
    1. Click Yes, delete to confirm your choice or No, cancel to cancel.
Removing a question in this fashion removes it only from the journal you are editing, and not from the pool of available additional information questions.
You can re-add a deleted question by clicking Add.
  4. To configure a question, click Configure to the right of the question.
Configurable additional information questions may contain one, or multiple fields for you to fill in.
    1. Fill in the additional field(s) and click Save.
Note: The Research Topics question requires some additional steps regarding keywords. See the related information for more details.
