Journal and Society Banner Guidelines

  • Banners supplied in .svg format provide the highest quality output.
  • Banners can also be supplied as .png files. PNG banners should be a minimum of 160px in height and have a transparent background.
  • Consider the aspect ratio (width versus height) of your banner. In most cases, banners will be scaled down to 80px in height. At 80px high, if your banner is wider than 550px, it will be scaled down further. Ensure that your banner is legible at this scale.
For best results:
  • Ensure that the foreground colors of your banner contrast with the primary background color.
  • Avoid small type. Banners are typically displayed at 80px in height and small type can become illegible.
  • Use horizontal (wide) banners where possible. Vertical (tall) banners will be scaled down to 80px in height and could become illegible.
