Document is unlocked

The submission fails with ScholarOne error code 44.

Why it happens…

Usually this happens when the editorial office unlocks a submission that is with the author, e.g., in revision, to add a production note, and then, they forget to lock it again.

ScholarOne will not let Author Portal replace a submission unless it is locked.

To resolve:

  1. In ScholarOne, locate and lock the submission.
  2. Open Author Portal and end the user proxy session. Then select Submissions > Actions > Resubmit.
  3. Wait at least 15 minutes and verify that the submission was completed successfully on S1M.
