Submit a Manuscript on Behalf of the Author

As an administrator, there may be cases where you need to create a submission on behalf of an author, for example, to help the author overcome a technical issue.

Before you begin

You must have Submission Administrator permissions or higher to perform this task.

About this task

It is a best practice to communicate with the author and let them know that a submission will be made on their behalf.

Procedure

  1. While logged in as an Author Portal administrator, navigate to https://{publisher}.atyponrex.com/journal/{journal-code}, where {publisher} is your Author Portal publisher code and {journal-code} is the code of the required journal.
  2. Start a new submission.
Ensure that the intended author's details (at a minimum, their name, and preferably also their email address) are included in the manuscript's main document file.
  3. At the Author Details submission step, do the following:
    1. Under Author List, set the intended author as the corresponding author.
    2. Under Submitting Agent, click I'm not an Author of this manuscript and, under Role, select Administrator/Assistant to the authors.
  4. Complete the submission.

What to do next

From the Submissions tab of the Author Portal Admin Tool, click Actions > Change ownership and change the submission ownership from your account to the intended author's account, or, if they do not yet have an Author Portal account, their email address. In the latter case, Author Portal will send an invitation email to the specified email address for the author to create an Author Portal account.
