There are not enough editors to implement the preferred editor question

Why it happens…

Author Portal is unable to retrieve a list of editors from ScholarOne for the Preferred Editors additional information question.

This may occur for at least two reasons:
  • There are no editors specified in ScholarOne.
  • The editor role names specified in the Preferred Editor Types field of the question's configuration in the journal's Additional Information tab in Author Portal do not exactly match the editor role names in ScholarOne.

To resolve:

If there are no available editors in ScholarOne, the question should be removed. From the journal's Additional Information tab in Author Portal, click Remove for the Preferred Editors question.

If there are available editors in ScholarOne, confirm that the editor role names entered in Author Portal exactly match those in ScholarOne.

  1. From the journal's Additional Information tab, click Configure for the Preferred Editors question.
  2. Confirm that the editor role names entered in the Preferred Editor Types field exactly match the corresponding values in ScholarOne. For example, if the role name in ScholarOne is Editor-in-Chief, then in Author Portal it cannot be entered as editor in chief.
