Authorship Change Enhancements
Author Portal can be configured so that if a submitter changes the author list between versions of a manuscript, the submitter is prompted to provide an explanation for the change, and all the authors of the manuscript, past and present, as well as the journal's editorial office, are notified by email of the author list change. The email notification includes the submitter's explanation for the change.

Link ORCID iDs in CONNECT Profile
When authors connect their ORCID iD with their Author Portal account, this change now also reflects on their CONNECT profile. The reverse is also true: if an author updates their ORCID iD on their CONNECT profile, this also reflects in Author Portal.
This new behavior has the following effects:
- If an author attempts to connect their ORCID iD to more than one Author Portal / CONNECT account, they are prompted to choose which account the ORCID iD should be associated with moving forward. Consequently, authors should no longer encounter the
Federated identity returned by ORCID is already linked to another user
error. - If an author uses the same CONNECT account on multiple publishers' submission systems, their change in ORCID iD on one system will affect all.
Start a Submission as an Admin
Admin users with access to the Journals tab can now click to open a new tab where they can start a submission to that journal. The action is only available for journals with a published version.
Direct Submission to ScholarOne
Initial, revised, and resubmitted submissions made through Author Portal that pass ScholarOne validation are now placed directly in the Admin Checklist, and it is not necessary for admins to proxy as the author to submit the manuscript on ScholarOne. However, if the submission fails ScholarOne validation, the manuscript is placed in the External Submissions in Draft queue and a ScholarOne admin must proxy as the author to submit it and place it in the Admin Checklist.
The
Submission Improvements
Admins with Tenant / Publisher Super User rights or higher can view if direct submission to ScholarOne is enabled for their platform from the
tab.
Author Portal now prevents submitters from uploading the same file as both the main document and the title page during a double-anonymized submission.
Super Users and Tenant Super Users can now reorder submission requirements questions from the Questions tab of the Admin Tool.
Accessibility Improvements
- Improved rendering of the Author Details submission step for small viewport sizes/high zoom conditions.
- Improved accessibility of the submission progress board for small viewport sizes.
- If a form control, beyond its primary label, has additional instructions or descriptions, providing more information to users about the type of information it expects, this additional content is now explicitly associated with the control, so that it is announced by assistive technologies. Similarly, if an error occurs when filling in a form, it is made clear to assistive technology users exactly what the problem is with the given input.
