February - April 2024
File Designation Labels and Descriptions
You can now configure a journal in Author Portal to require submitters to provide labels and/or descriptions for certain file designations.
Admin Improvements
- The Danger Zone tab has been renamed to Publish Changes.
- When creating a new submission requirements question from the
Questions tab, the
${journalAuthorGuidelines}
special symbol is populated in the admin preview with the URL to the author help site.
Submission Improvements
- When a journal editor issues a revision decision in ScholarOne, the author is no
longer able to create a revision for the manuscript in ScholarOne, and can only
submit a revision through Author Portal. This applies only to
revisions started after this change went into effect in April 2024. It does not
apply to revisions authors may have erroneously started directly in
ScholarOne.Note: Editors can now rescind revision decisions issued for manuscripts submitted through Author Portal, which differs from default ScholarOne behavior. Additionally, it is possible to rescind a decision after a revision has been started in Author Portal.
Accessibility Improvements
- The Article Type step has been updated for improved rendering at small screen sizes/high zoom conditions.
- Margins have been reduced for smaller screen sizes.
- A black outline has been added to the dropdown option that is currently in focus.
- On smaller screen sizes, additional information question descriptions are displayed above the answer options.
- On the My Submissions screen, the Start submission button now displays above the submission filters.
- Tables presented during the Upload Manuscript, Author Details, and Final Review submission steps have been updated for better recognition by assistive technologies such as screen readers.
