Reviewer PDF

Author Portal now provides submitters the option to create a reviewer PDF during the Final Review submission step. The generated PDF is included in their submission package. Previously, reviewer PDFs for submissions made through Author Portal were created only on ScholarOne.

Note: This feature is currently in a pilot stage and has been released on a limited number of journals.

Submission Screening Report Enhancements

Author Portal now integrates with version 2.0 of the Edifix API and includes retraction warnings from the Retraction Watch Database, in addition to similar warnings from PubMed and Crossmark (Crossref). Where applicable, such warnings are displayed in the References section of the report.

256-Character Limit on Names of Files Uploaded to Author Portal

Author Portal now imposes a limit of 256 characters (bytes) on the names of files that submitters upload to Author Portal. Previously, Author Portal did not enforce any such limit, which could cause issues with ScholarOne, which limits file names to 256 characters.

The limit applies to all files uploaded to Author Portal. For example, it applies to files uploaded during the Upload Manuscript submission step as well as to any files uploaded to answer a question in the Additional Information step.

S1M Status Mismatch Submission State

From the Submissions tab of the Author Portal Admin Tool, you can now search for submissions where the submission's state in Author Portal is different than its corresponding state in ScholarOne by setting the Submission States field to S1M Status Mismatch.

Direct Submission to ScholarOne

Initial submissions, revisions, and resubmissions made through Author Portal can now be submitted directly in ScholarOne, which makes it unnecessary for administators to proxy as the author to submit such manuscripts after they are ingested into ScholarOne. This does not apply to unsubmission replacements.

When submissions made through Author Portal pass validation, they will appear directly in the Awaiting Admin Checklist queue in ScholarOne. Alternatively, if a submission fails validation, it will appear in the External Submission in Draft queue.

The External System Draft Validate or Submit failure (Authors / Co-Authors) system event notification must be enabled in ScholarOne.

Note: This feature is currently in a pilot stage and has been released on a limited number of journals.

Funding Information Collected During the Match Organizations Submission Step

The Is this research supported by funding? additional information question is now displayed for submitters during the Match Organizations submission step. Previously, the question was displayed during the Additional Information submission step.

The question configuration has not changed; you can continue to configure the question from the Edit journal > Additional Information tab of the Author Portal Admin Tool.
