Create Submission Requirements Questions
Use the Questions tab of the Author Portal Admin Tool to create submission requirement questions that will be available for all journals on your platform.
Before you begin
About this task
- The platform-wide level, configurable through the Questions tab of the Admin Tool, as described on this page.
- The journal level. Journal admins can select which subset of the submission requirement questions available for their platform overall to add to a specific journal from the Submission Requirements tab when creating or editing a journal configuration.
- The article type level. Journal admins can select which subset of the submission requirement questions available for a journal to associate with each article type for that journal from the Article Types tab when creating or editing a journal configuration.
Note: You can only create, and not delete or update, submission requirement
questions from the Questions tab.
Procedure

Open the Admin Dashboard and select Questions.
- Click Create question.

Enter the new question in the text box and click Create
question.
Two special symbols are available under the $ menu in the text editor:
${journalAuthorGuidelines}
${journalName}
These special symbols can be inserted into the text to link to the journal’s author guidelines as defined in the journal configuration, or display the journal name. These special symbols should be used instead of hard coding journal-specific information in a reusable question.Note: In the rendered version of the question that the author sees, the${journalAuthorGuidelines}
special symbol will be populated with the URL to the author guidelines page for the journal. However, in the preview displayed for the admin configuring the question, the special symbol is populated with the URL to the author help site. -
Optionally click Reorder to reorder the questions.
- Drag and drop the questions to change their order.
- When you have made the required the required changes, click Save.
Note: The APC question always appears first.
