  - About the Submission Screening Report
    The Submission Screening Report provides editors with useful and automated bibliography/reference screening results, helping them review references faster.

      The report header includes key information about the related submission.
    - Submission Data Quality
      This section indicates if key metadata was provided manually or extracted from the manuscript.
    - Submission Metrics
      Submission metrics are automatically calculated by Author Portal.
    - Scope Check
      The Scope Check section assesses how well a manuscript fits the scope of the journal by comparing it to content previously published by that journal.
    - References Report
      The References report includes a summary and a complete listing of references extracted from the manuscript document.
    - Submission Requirement Acknowledgements
      The Submission Requirement Acknowledgements section of the Submission Screening Report includes all the answers to submission requirement questions the submitter has provided in Author Portal.
    - Report Footer
      The report footer mentions that this report is machine-generated and that it assists in the pre-screening process.

    You can find the Submission Screening Report in HTML format in the Manuscript Files tab of ScholarOne.
  - Configure the Submission Screening Report
    The Submission Screening Report is included in all submissions for journals using Author Portal with the Submission Screening Report option enabled.

Submission Metrics

Submission metrics are automatically calculated by Author Portal.

The Abstract word count and Main manuscript word count are very reliable. Figures and Tables metrics are calculated based on the number of files of that type that are included in the submission package.

The Main manuscript word count is based on the main body of the manuscript. It excludes header information, appendixes, supporting information, tables, object captions, and references. However, it includes abstract, Conflict of Interest, Funding information and acknowledgments sections.

Figures and Tables counts do not currently account for any figures or tables that are embedded within the MS Word document.
