This user guide includes workflow instructions about how Administrator users with the Transfer Admin role can use the Author Portal Transfer service within a Tenant's portfolio of journals to manually import a rejected manuscript from any journal using ScholarOne Manuscripts and transfer it to any journal using Author Portal (Author Portal).

To manually transfer a rejected manuscript from a journal using ScholarOne to a journal using Author Portal, Transfer Admins can use Author Portal Transfer to import an ScholarOne submission package and any available peer review files.

      To manually transfer a rejected manuscript from a journal using ScholarOne to a journal using Author Portal, Transfer Admins can use Author Portal Transfer to import an ScholarOne submission package and any available peer review files.
    - Known Limitations
      Access to the Author Portal Transfer application and transfer functionality is restricted within a Tenant’s portfolio of journals. For example, submissions cannot be transferred from one publisher to another.
    - Use Case
      Administrator-initiated transfer was built to support a specific transfer workflow and business process already in place. In this process, participating journals make a transfer offer post-rejection which is distinct from the decision letter. This process occurs outside of Author Portal Transfer and outside of the peer-review platform.
  - Access the Author Portal Transfer Admin Dashboard
    Users with a Transfer Admin role or a Tenant Super User role with the appropriate permissions assigned can access the Author Portal Transfer application.
  - Start a Submission Transfer
    There are two modes of import available to transfer a rejected submission to Author Portal, Import via ID or Import via File.

    Regardless of the submission import mode selected, you must review the details in the transfer ticket in order to resolve any potential discrepancies before completing the transfer and inviting the author to complete their new submission to the destination journal.

About Administrator-Initiated Import of Rejected Manuscripts

To manually transfer a rejected manuscript from a journal using ScholarOne to a journal using Author Portal, Transfer Admins can use Author Portal Transfer to import an ScholarOne submission package and any available peer review files.

Imported submissions are automatically pre-populated with files and metadata from ScholarOne, reducing the manual entry required per submission. Submission information is presented side-by-side in a single screen, with discrepancies between the previous and destination journals highlighted to further streamline the manual transfer process for administrators.

Once the Transfer Admin reviews and completes the transfer, the author is sent an email notification with a direct link to Author Portal to complete their draft submission at the destination journal. See About the Author Journey for Transferred Submissions for details of the Author journey.
